Getting Ready

The trip is going to Cartago, Costa Rica where Chris and I will volunteer for two weeks with our two boys Jakob 9, and Luke 6 years of age. We leave San Francisco June 20th and will be back July 13th. The last week will be spent somewhere by the coast where Chris will be catching a wave or two. We will be there during the rainy season, and I have no idea what to pack. We have however all been injected with shots for all kinds of diseases.
We are currently not aware of what we will be doing there, but Jakob plans to hang with the local boys learning some street soccer tricks, which he later will be able to share with his D1 team at home.
We have been listening to "Coffee Break Spanish" taught by a Scottish guy on the radio and can now say a few phrases. Since I have a huge mayo and sour cream phobia I made sure to learn how to say:'Sin crema"!

Volunteering in Costa Rica

It's the experience of a lifetime..we are going on an adventure!
As an international volunteer with Cross-Cultural Solutions, you're making a meaningful contribution, working side-by-side with local people and sharing in the goals of a community that warmly welcomes you. You're experiencing another culture like never before and really getting to know its people.
You'll gain new perspectives and insight into the culture and yourself. It's an exciting and personally inspiring experience, and you'll develop memories that will be with you forever.
"For those who want something different, something akin to a mini-stint with the Peace Corps, there is Cross-Cultural Solutions."
